Well, after 140 days staying at Presbyterian Hopital we can finally say that on Monday, April, 12th we will all be coming home as a family. There will be no more pulling all nighters at the hospital, no more hospital food, no more beeping noises in the NICU, and best of all no more waiting. We have made some of the best friends while at the hopital and we will miss seeing them all the time, but all in all we are ready to get out of there. We won't have to watch every other baby go home and wish we were them...our time has finally come. :) Though the wait was totally worth it.
Yesterday was filled with a day of tears and happiness when we heard the words, "He looks so good that Monday should work to take him home with you". We have been waiting for that moment for the longest time and its finally here.
Even though Elijah has been in the hospital for what seems like a lifetime we have always been his parents and always there with him, so to take him home is not going to be any new surprise. We will just do what we have always done and that is to take care of him and love him, and we can actually sleep now too. :) The nurse have told us we are totally ready to come home because we could do their job for them. We have learned alot and have grown even more.
Some people have asked us if this whole process as taken a tole on our marriage and who we are. I have this to say to them... "Not at all". Mike and I have one of the strongest marriages. We have been through so much in the short time of being married and it has only brought us closer and closer. We have had to totally lean on the Lord and each other for strength at so many times. It has been a great growing experience and I would never trade it.
We are so excited about our family and our family finally getting to be all together. Everyday we thank God for the life of our son and all He has brought him through. We know we would be nothing without Him on our side. We look forward to doing all the normal family things everyone gets to do.
We will be taking our first trip at the end of June to Atlanta for a wedding, and will hopefully be able to visit home as well.
Its been a long journey, but the journey is never over. We can't wait to grow as a family and see all the great things God has in store for us.
We would like to thank everyone who prayed their hearts out for us. We will never forget your prayers. Also a huge thank you for all the people who encouraged us with calling and texts...they always came at the right time. :)
Thank you Jesus for your goodness and for all the special gifts you hand to us.
